As I observed children in Special Primary Education (SBO), I noticed how difficult it was for them to communicate their emotions, which often led to behavioral escalations. After speaking with teachers and researching the challenges, it became clear to me that early intervention could prevent many of these conflicts.

That’s when I came up with the idea for the SmartBuddy Watch — a smartwatch with Natural Language Processing (NLP) that would act as a "buddy" for these kids. It would allow them to express their emotions easily, and the NLP would notify teachers when the child needed support. I developed prototypes, gathered feedback from educators, and made sure to address privacy concerns. In the end, I created a tool that helps children express themselves and contributes to a more positive classroom environment.
